Italy: AI-content disclosure requirements
Italy requires AI-content disclosure under Italian Law No. 132/2025, in force from 10 October 2025.
What it requires
Requires transparency and labelling of AI-generated or altered content and disclosure when AI assists decisions in sensitive areas; creates a criminal offence for the illicit dissemination of harmful AI-altered content.
Who must comply
Providers and deployers operating in Italy (complements the EU AI Act).
What content is covered
AI-generated or altered content, including deepfakes.
Status and notes
First national AI law inside the EU, in force since 10 October 2025. Complements, and does not override, the directly applicable EU AI Act.
How to comply with AIDisclose
Publish an ai-disclosure.json manifest declaring the AI systems your site uses, add the on-site snippet to render the required notices and labels in 28 languages, and keep timestamped, exportable evidence that they were shown. Start with a free check of your site.
