India: AI-content disclosure requirements
India requires AI-content disclosure under IT (Intermediary Guidelines and Digital Media Ethics Code) Amendment Rules, 2026, in force from 20 February 2026.
What it requires
Mandatory prominent labelling of synthetically generated information at upload, unalterable embedded metadata/identifiers, a visible on-screen label and audible warning for audio, plus fast takedown windows.

Intermediaries and platforms.

How to comply with AIDisclose
Publish an ai-disclosure.json manifest declaring the AI systems your site uses, add the on-site snippet to render the required notices and labels in 28 languages, and keep timestamped, exportable evidence that they were shown. Start with a free check of your site.
